M; The 160 acres of land was now valued at $800, although 40 acres of praire was now fenced with 500 rods of wire. With farming implements valued at $30, William Efford had sown 50 acres of winter wheat, and had planted or planned to plant 10 acres of corn, 6 of barley, 6 of oats, 5 of sorghum which was to be used for forage or seed, and 30 in Milo maize. He had cut 4 tons of praire grass hay in 1894. The family had sold $8 worth of poultry and eggs during the previous year, and made 365 lbs. of butter. Livestock included 3 horses, 2 milch cows, 7 swine, and a family dog. Their orchard included 36 peach trees and 12 cherry trees, of which 11 and 6, respectively, were bearing fruit.3
