Birth*Hugh Dunshee was born in 1753 at Londonderry, Rockingham Co., NH.2,3 
He was the son of Thomas Dunshee and Elizabeth Moore.1 
Note*Hugh Dunshee, in his younger days, went into the wilds of Maine and spent several seasons there in hunting and trapping.2 
Marriage*He married Cynthia Allen, daughter of James Allen, circa 1787 at Walpole, Cheshire Co., NH. 
Note Between 1797 and 1811 Hugh Dunshee paid a single poll tax in Walpole. During those years he reported between 5 to 8 acres of plowland, 6 to 9 for mowing, and 16 to 24 for pasture, with the balance of what appears to be roughly 80 acres kept as "wildland". He generally kept 1 horse, 2 oxend, and 5 to 9 cows and calves. His cash grew from about $200 in 1797 to a high of $700 in 1802 before dropping back to $200 in 1811.4 
Census*He appeared on the census of 1820 at Walpole, Cheshire Co., NH; one male over age 44 (Hugh); one male age 26-44 (probably John); one female age 26-44 (probably Johns wife, Annette); one female aged 10-16 (Sarah); three females aged 16-26 (Fanny, Laurinda, & Diantha??); three males under age 10 (Allen and probably two of John & Annette's sons)).5
